Too often we here Novus Ordo Catholics put down traditional Catholics for being dower. This is their excuse, but where does it come from? Where is the evidence? All they point to is the liturgy --- that it is focused on Christ's Sacrifice as opposed to fraternity. They claim that the focus on fraternity is as proof of God's Will, but this is heretical, because it presents true fraternity as if it is at odds with putting God first. True Charity is love of God FIRST, because He loves us first, and only secondly, out of that first love, we have love of neighbor. However, pride causes people to fall into error, ,as well as being ruled by emotions. Simply saying that attention to fraternity brings "peace" or a better feelings does not mean that it is God's Will. God actually said that he didn't come to bring peace as the world gives, and that truth is a sword that would divide, and he is that Sword. This isn't to say that division is a good thing, but it means that true unity is not at odds with truth. Truth and charity coexist, and one does not limit the other. This also means that there is never a reason to be unclear with presenting Church teachings, or to doubt them, as they have been passed down (no novelties because God isn't getting new ideas from us, He's already given them to us).
If one is discerning their church by how they feel, their religion is in vain. True faith, for instance, doesn't reside in one's feelings, but in the soul.
What Church Doctor didn't suffer by others in the church because of their devotion?
Often times, even simple devotions, even rules never abrogated in Canon law, for instance, the Friday fasting and abstinence, is laughed at, yet, it is still a rule. Many bishops only granted a dispensation in lieu of another penance, IF the abstinence and fasting cannot be done/and there is a good reason for it to be avoided. So this is what qualifies traditional Catholics for being "dower" or "rigid". Perhaps it is the other way around. The modernists cling too tightly to their excuses, and lack charity to be open to the teachings of the Church Doctors whom we support and defend in orthodoxy and orthopraxy.
The test of true love of God is by the desire to love Him in holy obedience to His teachings, and the discernment of His will can never be at odds with things such as doctrine and reverence to the doctrine and to the traditional liturgy, which protects this order of understanding. Even one who never commits mortal sin, is in mortal sin by omission, if he or she does not admit to even one dogmatic teaching. In orthopraxy, if any Christian puts fraternity as if it is at odds with doctrine, they do not trust in God but in themselves and in false ,new, religion, and not the religion of the martyrs, Church Fathers, and Church Doctors.
